Top Deck Boards
The upper surface where products are placed. Number of boards affects load distribution - more boards mean better support for irregular loads.
Critical for product protectionBottom Deck Boards
Located on the underside. Provides stability and distributes weight to the floor. Essential for racking applications.
Important for racking strengthStringers
The long boards running the length of the pallet that connect top and bottom decks. Can be notched for 4-way fork entry or solid for 2-way entry.
Determines fork entry and strengthBlocks
Used in block pallets instead of stringers. Solid wood blocks at corners and center allow 4-way fork entry from any direction.
Enables full 4-way accessLead Boards
The outer top and bottom deck boards. These take the most abuse from fork tines and should be inspected carefully.
Most prone to damageFasteners
Nails or screws holding the pallet together. Spiral or ring-shank nails provide better holding power than smooth nails.
